Question 1: Is there any info regarding the make and model of the backflow preventers?

Answer 1: No make and model information is being provided on the existing backflow preventers. This information could have been obtained by bidder if they had performed an on-site inspection of the sprinkler rooms.

Question 2: Does the interior work of the sprinkler rooms entail more work that just connecting the pipes below the 8” Tee? There is not much information provided in the spec.

Answer 2: The proposed Work involves modifying the water supply connection, including associated restoration and coordination. The Work is detailed on the Contract Drawings and notes attached to said Drawings (which were expanded upon in Addendum 1). The Contract Specifications cover items that constitute this Work, such as pipe, materials, etc. The Contract Specifications also include a Measurement & Payment item (Existing Sprinkler Room Water Supply Piping Modification, pg. 01025-15, Art. 2.32) that describes what is included in the Work at this location.

Question 3: Page 22, item H (General Conditions) references Professional Liability Insurance. Please confirm if this coverage is required.

Answer 3: The Bidder will not be required to provide Professional Liability Insurance on this project.

TO THE SPECIFICATIONS

1. Section 01000 – PROJECT REQUIREMENT, Page 01000-2, RESTRICTION OF WORKING HOURS, add Article 1.02.D.2 as follows:

“2. Any construction activity in Sprinkler Rooms that impacts Mall’s normal business operations or interrupts water supply shall be restricted to Monday Through Friday between the hours of 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Contractor shall submit proposed Sprinkler Room Work Schedule to Owner/Engineer for approval 48 hours prior to commencing Work. Absolutely no Work will be allowed on Sundays or holidays unless prior approval of the Owner has been given.”

TO THE DRAWINGS

1. Sheets 4 and 5, the approximate location of Irrigation Piping (IP) has been added to the drawings. Sheets 4 and 5 are located at the end of this Addendum.

2. Sheets 8, 9 and 10, add the following Notes to the drawings:

“8.  Any existing pipe insulation removed to facilitate construction shall be replaced in kind.
  9. See Specification Section 01000, Article 1.02.D.2 for Restriction of Working Hours in Sprinkler Room.”
